Asda Foundation Board Trustee Recruitment

We are recruiting two new trustees to join our Board.

Asda Foundation is Asda Stores independent charitable Foundation. We are seeking to expand and diversify the membership of the Board of Trustees. We want to appoint several new trustees to join our dynamic board who can support the Asda Foundation’s strategic development and broaden our impact as a corporate charitable Foundation.

As we seek to diversify our board of trustees, we are particularly encouraging applications from a diverse range of ages, ethnic backgrounds and lived experiences to enable us to reflect the diverse nature of our beneficiaries.

We have two roles to appoint and we are particularly keen to welcome one young trustee onto the board, adding value to our leadership and a different insight to our work. Young Trustees Movement report only 3% of trustees are 30 and under and we want to be part of the movement to change this. If you aren't an aspiring young trustee, please don't let that put you off applying, we are looking for a diverse group of inspiring people to help us lead the charity.

Time Commitment

Quarterly board meetings (2hrs), plus pre reading time. We also have sub committees with delegated authority to focus on priority projects (approx. 1 hr a month). Occasionally, addition zoom calls in response to a community need as and when required.

Meeting Location

Asda Foundation is based in Leeds, however participation in board meetings can be made remotely via zoom.

Role of Trustee

Our Trustees play a pivotal role in the charity. You will share the responsibility for governing the Foundation, ensuring it remains legal, setting and directing the strategic direction of the charity and how it is managed and run. (We can provide further information and training as required).

This is an opportunity for an individual to help shape the future of the charity. This role is not remunerated but reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed.

We may also ask trustees to support the operational team with projects the trustee may have previous experience in or a passion to develop and help that idea become a reality.

Personal Specification

We are looking for passion and commitment from people who believe in empowering communities to be resilient. You do not need any previous experience in being a trustee but a willingness to learn is essential.

You will bring to the role:

• Passion for grass roots community development

• Commitment to ensure we consider the needs of communities

• A willingness to share your opinion

• Clear thinking with strong analytical skill

• A team player

• Multi-year commitment to the Foundation and willingness to devote time and energy into the mission

• Enthusiasm to go out into the community and visit projects

How to Apply

Please submit your CV and a covering letter that details why you would like to be a trustee. Our recruitment application window will close on 14th August 2022, but we will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis so please submit ahead of that date.

Please email: asdafoundation@asda.co.uk

If successful, we will be holding interviews towards the end of August.
