Applications for our Investing in Spaces and Places Grant are now open!
Launching for its third year, Investing in Spaces and Places is our higher value Asda Foundation grant, aimed at improving spaces in the heart of local communities.
We know small grassroots organisations play a vital role in their community, making positive change and improving people’s lives every day, but the challenge for many is having the appropriate safe and inclusive space to bring people together and deliver their fantastic work.
Asda Foundation will be investing over £1,000,000 for this grant to enable grassroots community groups to transform spaces at the heart of their local community.
For this year, grants will be between £10,000 – £25,000 and the application window opened on 9th July 2024.
The grant criteria will focus on investing in community spaces and places and projects funded must be at least one of:
1. Building Repairs
2. Building Development
3. Outdoor Development

Since the grant launched in 2022, we have supported over 90 community groups, with funding ranging from £5,000 – £25,000.
Last year, we funded Butterfly Effect Wellbeing with a grant for £25,000, via Asda Harlow.
The group used the grant to transform an unused building into a safe and comforting community hub. The new space included a garden space, yoga studio, clothing share store, an indoor and outdoor kitchen and cosy spaces to connect.

The Whitstable Umbrella Centre also received an Investing in Spaces and Places Grant, for £21,555, via Asda Canterbury.
They used the funding to carry out essential repairs to the centre’s exterior, which was in desperate need of reconstruction. This work was critical to ensure that the group can continue to offer a safe place for the community of Whitstable, and the surrounding areas, for years to come.
