About us

The Asda Foundation offers grant funding to small community groups.

As an independent charitable foundation funded by Asda, The Asda Foundation supports the small, grassroots groups at the heart of our communities. We aim to empower local groups with the funding they need, exactly where and when they need it.

We work closely with In-store Asda Community Champions to understand the needs of the people living and working locally in the communities surrounding Asda stores and fund vital community projects.

The Asda Foundation is proud of the support we have provided to local communities over the last 30 years. Working with Asda Community Champions, our mission is to create strong community connections and ensure our funding reaches the local grassroots groups who need it most.

Our Trustees

Working independently of Asda Stores, The Asda Foundation is led by a Board of Trustees. The Board consists of both Asda colleagues and experts from the wider sector, giving us a breadth of knowledge and experience to draw on when setting our overall strategic direction and decision-making.

What We Fund

Each year, the Asda Foundation receives a donation from Asda Stores. We use this donation to provide grant funding to grassroots groups at the heart of communities throughout the UK. We work with In-store Asda Community Champions to award grants to the local groups that need them most.

From enabling foodbanks to purchase vital supplies to funding community centres to repair their roof, our funding enables grassroots groups to make a positive impact in their local community.

By focusing on small community projects, we’re able to support groups that may not have been able to access funding before.

Working with In-store Asda Community Champions

Asda’s network of almost 400 In-store Asda Community Champions use their local insight to assist in grant curation and delivery. Community Champions are able to signpost to Asda Foundation funding, support with the application process and also offer a range of Asda initiatives that support local people.

  • In-store Asda colleagues understand where support can make the most impact in their local community
  • In-store Asda Community Champions signpost groups to Asda Foundation funding, or to the other community support offered in-store
  • Our grants are designed to support grassroots organisations and In-store Asda Community Champions can support them throughout the application process.
