Kenton Park Sports Centre has been awarded £12,200 through our Local Community Spaces Fund via Asda Gosforth to carry out essential maintenance and repair works that will help keep the centre safe, welcoming and fit for the many people who use it each week.
The funding will support replacement flooring in key rooms used for NHS assessments, community activities and exercise programmes, as well as the installation of a new external shutter and repairs to a leaking roof above the centre’s soft play area. These improvements will help maintain a clean, high-quality environment for everyone who uses the facility.
Located in the heart of Newcastle, Kenton Park Sports Centre is a charity-run organisation committed to making sport, fitness and wellbeing accessible to everyone. By keeping prices affordable, the centre helps people of all ages stay active, connect with others and take part in activities that support their wellbeing.
The venue welcomes around 1,500 visitors every week and is used by community organisations, healthcare providers and local groups. Alongside sports and fitness activities, the centre hosts NHS assessment services, rehabilitation programmes, gentle exercise sessions, community events and opportunities for children and families to stay active and connected.
Once completed, the improvements will help protect this valued community asset and support the continued delivery of affordable activities, health programmes and community services for years to come.
Kenton Park Sports Centre is one of many groups receiving support through our Local Community Spaces Fund, helping repair, renovate and improve the community spaces that people across the UK rely on every day.
