Asda Foundation recognises that the cost-of-living crisis is still a reality for many, and that the reliance on the vital support of local foodbanks, community pantries and other organisations is still very high.

Today, Asda Foundation is launching a new Foodbank Fundamentals Grant. This grant, specifically for organisations whose core purpose is to distribute food and alleviate food poverty, offers funding of £500 or £1,000.

The Independent Food Aid Network surveyed its food banks in March 2024 and 77% of respondents said they experienced increased demand in the number of people seeking regular support. 65% of services reported to have seen a drop in food donations while 45% of organisations contributing to the survey have seen a drop in financial donations.

It’s not surprising that with both increased costs and demand, this has caused a strain on food provision services. With nearly half of those surveyed stating that if demand increases, they would need to reduce the size of the parcels they provided or might not be able to help everyone who asked for support.

Our goal is to build resilient communities by addressing local challenges and social needs. Whether it’s stocking up on essential food items that your group struggles to cover with regular donations, investing in new appliances that will increase the number of people your group can support each week, or being able to remunerate the volunteers that keep your service going, the Foodbank Fundamentals grant is here for you.

The application window is open now! For more information on criteria and how to apply, click here: Foodbank Fundamentals Grant

Please note, if the volume of applications exceeds our budget we will close applications early. If we are over subscribed in your area of operation, we may choose to close individual areas before closing the total grant programme.
