We are proud to announce that we are investing over £1.2M in funding for sixty-five community projects across the UK, with a view to transforming community spaces and places, where local people can come together and thrive.
Grants awarded are between £10,000 and £25,000 and are aimed at supporting communities across the UK.
Funding will be used for renovations, repairs, or the transformation of outdoor spaces. Projects include upgrades to a community kitchen and café, roof repairs, the refurbishment of a community building, and the development of accessible outdoor spaces to plant and grow and connect communities with nature.
“We know that safe and inclusive spaces can be a lifeline to many in our local communities, they offer a way for people to be together and are the home for many vital services and activities. Our Community Tracker tells us that many community groups are struggling to find the funding to maintain, develop and repair these spaces and that’s where we have come into help. Through our Investing in Spaces and Places grants, and the wider Asda Foundation programme, we want to continue playing our part in uniting communities and reducing loneliness by improving community spaces and bringing people together.”

Newport Youth Café Project provide opportunities to address the educational, developmental and leisure needs of local young people in Newport Salop, and the surrounding district. They also provide training and work experience opportunities in the community café, building social cohesion, self-confidence, and self-esteem. Asda Foundation funding will enable windows to be replaced, guttering work to be completed, and issues with electrics/automatic doors to be resolved.
The Hub is such an important asset, not just for the people of Newport but for the volunteers that receive training and vital employment opportunities. This Asda Foundation Investing in Spaces and Places grant funding is crucial.
