Local Community Spaces Fund – Saints Youth Centre

Saints Youth Centre has been awarded £20,000 through our Local Community Spaces Fund via Asda Belfast Westwood to carry out essential repairs and improvements that will help ensure the centre remains a welcoming and accessible place for local young people and the wider community.

The funding will support a range of vital building improvements, including upgrades to electrical systems, replacement doors and windows, drainage repairs, refurbishment of a water-damaged area, and repairs to steps, handrails and other access points around the site. The project will also improve accessibility and address important safety concerns throughout the building.

Located in the Colin area of West Belfast, Saints Youth Centre has supported young people and families for more than 40 years. The centre provides informal education, youth programmes and day-to-day support, helping children and young people develop skills, build confidence and create positive relationships.

Operating six evenings a week as well as throughout the daytime, the centre is a valued local resource and welcomes more than 1,000 visitors every week. In addition to youth activities, the facility is used by schools, sports clubs and community organisations, bringing people together and strengthening community connections.

Many of the planned improvements focus on addressing issues that have developed over time, including faulty electrics, water ingress, deteriorating access routes and ongoing drainage problems. By investing in these essential works, the project will help protect the long-term future of the centre and maintain a facility that is relied upon by local people every day.

Once completed, the improvements will provide a safer and more inclusive environment for young people, families and community groups, helping Saints Youth Centre continue delivering activities, opportunities and support for years to come.
