Galentine’s Day Celebration

Galentine’s Day celebrates female friendships and serves as a reminder for women to support and uplift one another. We wanted to use this opportunity to highlight a group we recently funded, who spread this message to women all-year round!

The Olive Tree supports ladies, who meet every Wednesday, to provide drinks, snacks and the opportunity to take part in an engaging activity.

Their aim is to provide a safe space where women feel welcomed and included, allowing them to feel a sense of belonging whilst building meaningful friendships, ensuring they have a solid support network.

Group leaders offer support with various tasks, from writing CV’s, to job references, to booking GP appointments. Women who attend are encouraged to share their cultural traditions and cuisines to celebrate their heritage and promote cultural understanding.

Asda Foundation’s funding was used to purchase drinks, food and essential resources for their weekly activities. With this funding, The Olive Tree hosted a special Galentine’s Day event for women to share stories and participate in napkin folding.

“Thanks to Asda Foundation, we’ve been able to continue our work this year. “The Olive Tree” is a weekly group to welcome and support ladies who originally are not from Northern Ireland. Our most recent event was our beautiful Galentine’s breakfast, when we also tried our hand at some rose and heart napkin folding.”
